But to be honest, the exam hasn't changed in its content. In my opinion, the questions aren't the difficult part- its the short amount of time you have to do them!!!
Yeah definitely. There's just never enough time. There's too much time for SJT, and then you wish you had some of that time for the other sections. You reckon doing the test at home will make the timing easier?
That's a good point- I mean our exams this year were online and at home, and it was kinda strange tbh- somewhere I am usually chilling in my PJ's, and now I was writing a proper exam
Yeah exactly what I was thinking. Sometimes that bit of exam atmosphere for a test gives that extra edge when doing an exam. But it could go the other way as well - might ease the nerves having the test at home. Everyone has their own process. It's good they've given people the option of going to a test centre or having the test at home.
I think my advice for that would be honestly in the run up for exams, do mock full exams and aim for no distractions during them, and get used to the general feel for how the exam is gonna be like. Saying that, you are never gonna be fully prepared!!!
For me, I found being focused for 2 hours straight a challenge. I would often get distracted easily, especially since most of my preparation for the UCAT was online. To remedy that, I tried to do an hour initially. I would then take a break and come back to it. I slowly increased the time to an hour and a half and then finally to 2 hours as my test date approached.
Does anyone else feel like doing the ucat test at home is actually more stressful? Just because of having to make sure that your surroundings are suitable and having to take pictures of it etc personally it would stress me out almost as much as the actual exam itself!! At least at the test centre all you have to do is show up with a few key documents to prove your identity!
i agree! if i were taking the UCAT this year i think i would've still done it at a test centre, saves me having to stress about all this new extra security stuff
personally, i'm glad they're still offering the option to sit the UCAT at a test centre, sitting it at home is just not possible for some people for so many different reasons. and tbh i feel like sitting it at a test centre would make it feel more like an exam, bc the exams i sat at home this semester didnt seem so official to me, and i defo think that hurt my performance :/
For starters- I am really glad I don't have to do it- the stresses that exam brought were like no other!!!

Finding your own technique that works for you so that you have a strategy to approach each section as well. Just to make the most of your time.
What techniques worked for you guys??

Yeah that's wise words. Small, manageable shifts and then keep it going steadily.

Definitely agree with you on that, doing it at the test centre would help set me into the right zone too
