Our partnership with
The David Nott Foundation
Who are the David Nott Foundation?
The David Nott Foundation was established in 2015, with the aim of educating surgeons and medical professionals with the skills to provide relief and assistance in conflict and natural disaster zones around the world. Through education, these surgeons can then teach others and improve both local healthcare and medical education in countries, where need is most acute.
What does the money go towards?
Money raised from our fundraising goes towards teaching surgeons, many being from countries affected by conflict around the world. The teaching is done in two ways:
Surgical Training for Austere Environments (STAE) course that David Nott teaches at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Scholars are chosen for their commitment to humanitarian surgery and priority is given to those from resource-poor or conflict-afflicted regions. We pay for their course fee, travel, visas, accommodation and sustenance when they are in the UK.
Teaching is also taken around the world with the Hostile Environment Surgical Training (HEST) course. We have held these courses in Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Iraq, Libya and Lebanon.

Who are FDNF?
Friends of David Nott Foundation is an independent student society, working with the David Nott Foundation directly ,to raise awareness of their work amongst university students. We do this, by organising and running fundraisers- from charity gigs featuring local talent, to themed club nights. We hope to work with Scrubbed Up to raise as money as we can for such a great cause.
